Festival powering running busmans>SD mp2>Oade warm mod fr2le

Anyone know of powering options that would get this rig through a multi day festi or am I dreaming?

Or running busmans>Fostex.

Everyone laughs at us but we have used eco-charge dual 6/12V's for many years. We own 3, so there is that. But unless we power V3 with one it will usually last an entire day. OTH, ours are now so old they may be at the end of their usefulness. We are looking into buying two of these MAxoaks as replacements: https://www.amazon.com/MAXOAK-50000mAh-Portable-External-Notebook-Most/dp/B00YP823NA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1522412019&sr=8-3&keywords=50000+power+bank

$135 is spendy but Charlie Miller says it runs his Grace pre-amp great.

I ran my FR2LE on 12v and feel confident the SD MP2 will run on 9v...have you looked at the large Talentcell batteries? The one below has 12v and 9v outputs that can be ran at the same time...I would think one would run you all day and some to the next...IIRC the FR2le has a 3w draw the MP2 shouldn't be more...so 6w an hour/100wh = 16hrs...that is a full festy day so may need one per day...

I have that Talentcell and, while I haven't done any festivals, I've run it for at least 3-4 hours at a time, and have never gotten more than one of the charge level lights to go dark.  This is powering an F8 and 1-2 pairs of mics.

I'll vouch for the MaxOak 50,000mah K2...bought one to run a Portico 5012 that was pulling 12w and would down Tekkeons at the rate of one per set...those K2's rock...They have multiple power outlets, 20v and 12v and multiple 2amp and 1.2amp USB ports. I'm not aware of any of my taping equipment that would take 20v (and I gaff taped over that outlet so as not to use it by mistake)...a MP2 may run on the 5v 2amp USB...but I think it will not have meter lights.

But, the K2 is not allowed on a airplane.

Yes. I was just going to summarize the airplane situation.  I think this info is posted elsewhere, but it's worth repeating.

  • The "smaller" TalentCell 100 WH battery can fly as a carry-on with no limit to the number you have.
  • The "larger" TalentCell 132 WH battery can also fly with some restrictions: "With airline approval, passengers may also carry up to two spare larger lithium ion batteries (101-160 watt hours)"  I've checked several individual airline websites and some say they are OK with a battery this size and others say nothing, implying that you'd have to ask them for permission.
  • The 185 WH MAXOAK exceeds 160 WH and can not go on an airplane...

FWIW, I flew with that Talentcell recently with no issues.  Not that the TSA is a model of consistency...

Not to get off topic and you may already be aware of this...but, if you aren't familiar with running a SD MP2>Oade Warm Mod FR2le...if you run XLR's on the MP2 the Fostex input side must be 1/4" TS...there is no "Mic/Line Input" switch on the little Fostex the multi-port XLR-1/4 was the way you chose Line or Mic...If you go in with XLR's it will brickwall the mic preamp stage of the FR2le....you also lose the Warm Mod IIRC (it was only on the mic stage). I fried the first few recordings I made Grace V2 XLR OUT>XLR FR2le....worked like a charm on with V2 RCA>1/4 TS Fostex that bypassed the Microphone stage.

Something tells me the MP2 is hot on XLR outputs...make sure that it doesn't require attenuation.

I love my maxoak. I snagged it from their Ebay store when they had the 20% off coupon.  I believe they have a 15% off with app purchase today only.  So I think I paid like 115 shipped.

The mp2 is in fact hot on the xlr outs. So I can run xlr>xlr when going mics>Fostex?

Yes...microphones>XLR>FR2le will route the signal to mic preamp stage with the Oade mod...note the two tiny posts that control mic pre gain...there is also two over drive red light indicators by thes posts...seems I just kept them at 12 o’closk...did all the gain adjustments with the two larger gain controls with my Nak100’s & AKG 461’s

Yeah and it only allowed one per person AND it gave a 15 minute timeframe to complete once in your cart. Try deleting cookies?
