Title: Building AKG ck91 actives - Questions on making cables
Post by: TheMaestro on September 14, 2008, 03:36:20 PM
Well, I've purchased a pair of ck91s with the intent to run them into my three wire CA-9100.

Does someone know the standard wiring of the mini xlr connector?

I'm planning to use Canare L-4E5C Miniature Star-Quad for the cable.  The outer diameter is .189in, would this work with ta3f mini xlr?

http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~mannr/AKG/CK91_conn_set.pdf (http://www.cs.uwaterloo.ca/~mannr/AKG/CK91_conn_set.pdf) this shows the connection in the mic.  Would this line up with the standard 3 wire wiring?

If I want to make some unbalanced interconnects would the Canare L-4E5C Miniature Star-Quad be suitable?  Like a 1/8 to 1/8 mini jack interconnect?

I would also like to use techflex on the cables.  Could anyone recommend a size?

Any recommendations on shrink tubing?

I'd like to purchase everythink from one place.  I'm thinking markertek.

Thanks,

Trenton

The mini-XLR's that I have are from Switchcraft, and they live at switchcraft.com.  They are wired just like the big guys because guys like me are too dumb to learn another way.  If you go to the home page and find this page (TINI Q-G® MINIATURE CONNECTORS) you will have the pictures you need.

Cheers, and a steady hand.
