Title: Sasquatch Festival @ Gorge taping?
Post by: ChrisV on May 11, 2004, 07:33:54 PM
So does anyone know if there will be taping allowed at the Sasquatch Festival this year?   I know there was at the first one, but there wasn't last year due to "security reasons".   Just curious on this year.   Nothing in the lineup is terribly exicting to me this year(hell not much can beat CP last year for me) but I may be swayed into going if taping was allowed(would like to get some outdoor taping experience in).    Headliner is The Roots this year.   Current lineup so far is: Apollo Sunshine, Aveo, The Black Keys, Built To Spill, Cat Power, David Cross, The Decemberists, Donavon Frankenreiter, Fruit Bats, Gary Jules, Harvey Danger, Ben Lee, The Long Winters, Alexi Murdoch, The New Pornographers, The Postal Service, Preston School of Industry, The Roots, The Shins, Sleater-Kinney, Thievery Corporation, Visqueen.

There is a 2 for 1 ticket special going on today through HOB till 10 PM tonight on Ticketmaster here too in case anyone is interested:

Anybody have any info on this?  I'd love to tape Gary Jules & Alexi Murdoch.

Hmm, I dunno if HOB would be the best way to find out or not.   Could try them I suppose since they own the Gorge.    Or could do a mass contacting of all bands that support taping and ask/urge them to work with the festival to allow it.   I am positive on Gary Jules, Donavon Frankenreiter, The Black Keys, and Ben Lee all have taping policy's that allow it for sure.  And Built To Spill, Sleater-Kinney, Cat Power, Alexi Murdoch are all probables who allow it but don't have official policy's.   But I think the biggest factor would be The Roots(whom also have nothing official) since they are the supposed headliner of the festival.    I have heard they allow taping but who knows, found nothing on their mess of a website including any contacts.

EDIT:  They *just* posted the set times here:
http://www.hob.com/tickets/festivals/sasquatch/2004/artists/

Looks like Thievery Corporation is actually closing so I am not sure now if they would be considered the "headliner" or not.

Jeez looks like most of the people I'd be interested are on the side stage....should make taping allowed just over there lol ;p

Hope we can find out before this Tuesday because I have a feeling they may offer it up on "Two for Tuesdays" again since I think ticket sales are tanking pretty big for this years show.

FWIW, I don't think the Roots allow taping.

Someone needs to remove them from BTAT then.

I may be wrong, but seems like I've seen talk that they aren't cool with it.

Alexi Murdoch is pro-taping, and asks that copies of any taped shows get sent his way.

They only had it from 10 AM to 10 PM on last Tuesday....was hoping they'd have it on again for today but there is nothing listed on HOB's website for today :(

There does seem to be some sort of other coupon code on the Ticketmaster page...not sure what it is for or how much of a discount but if anyone finds out let us know.   I'd still hold out on paying full price till at least next Tuesday to see if by chance they offer it up again on HOB.

Well I got in contact with someone from Barsuk records and they passed along to me a direct email address for the Promotor of the concert so I could ask them....they replied to me within less than 2 minutes w/ what is probably their default answer.   Oh well, at least they were fast reply ;p

Yeah, I was thinking of sending another reply to them commenting on how poor ticket sales were tanking for this year's festival but I refrained from doing so ;p
They've been on a steady decline with each festival, and I doubt there will be another one after this year's.

First year = 20k(sold out)
2nd year = 12k
This year I doubt they've even sold 5k.

i wish i could of made it to the first year, looked pretty sweet with SCI and ben harper, etc.

too bad they've shifted away from that in the past two years...
