calculating total power consumption at 48V phantom
« on: October 27, 2011, 03:14:49 PM »
I purchased an hs-p82 and the manual says that its power consumption is 18W assuming 8 channels are recording with no phantom engaged. Was trying to determine what the total draw is going to be so that I can buy the right external battery.

Amps x volts = watts

and

schoeps cmc6 draws 4mA at 48V, so based on that:

.004 x 48V = .19  and times 8channels = 1.54 watts

so the total draw would be 18 + 1.54 = 19.54

OR

do I base the calculation off of the DC power supply of 12V?

.004 x 12V = .05    x 8channels = .40 watts?

OR

Do I base it off of the AC 110 voltage?

.004 x 110V = .44 watt  x 8 channels = 3.52watts

I found an external battery that shows a rating of 153 watt hours or 42,500mAh. That is based on 19V. It also has a 12V output. Will the watt hour or mAh rating change? btw, I got a response from tech support and they said with phantom off 16watt and phantom on 18watts. how long will the battery last at 18 watts?

153 watt hours / 18 watts = 8.5hrs
