UA-5 vs. Audiophile 2496
« on: March 05, 2006, 04:38:17 PM »
Hey,

I will be transferring many cassettes to my hard drive soon.

I have a 2 head Nak deck, I've borrowed my buddy's UA-5 and I have the Audiophile 2496 soundcard installed in my PC.

In the past I ran Nak > RCA > UA-5 > USB > CEP 2.0. That seemed to work ok.

I am wondering if there are any advantages or disadvantages to run

1. Nak > RCA > Audiophile > CEP

or

2. Nak > RCA > UA-5 > coax > Audiophile > CEP

I'm open to all ideas/opinions/etc.

Thanks.

I think the UA-5 is your best bet, in this situation.  It's better to do the A/D conversion outside of your computer, because computers are noisy, so I would not go analog RCA into the Audiophile soundcard.

now, for the UA-5, if you go USB to your computer, or digi coax into your soundcard, in theory, either way would be identical.  so do what ever's easiest...
