Question on the KM235 T Bar
« on: May 13, 2005, 11:54:33 PM »
I saw it mentioned in passing in my many searches, but I'm looking at it, and I don't see any reason to spend $8 on a riser, when I could just detach one of the adjustable arms and turn it upside down, or take one of the 5/8" mic screw and turn that upside down. Either way I should be able to do XY fine with one mic up and one mic down, right? I just want to make sure this is possible, that these screws aren't permanently bolted on or impossible to remove. Thanks!

PS - I'll be using a pair of tensimounts - they work real nice on the AT853's, surprisingly!

The 5/8" screws come out and you can reverse one of them.

if you're using AT schokmounts, they bump into each other depending on the setup you choose, even if you turn one screw upside doown

i'm having trouble seeing how they could hit each other when they're facing completely opposite each other from the bar...

I'm using tensimounts, which are a bit smaller

depending on the setup you choose

although the capsules may be facing away from each other, sometimes the mounts or bodies may be in close proximity
we all live downstream.

but one will be above the bar, and the other below it, how could they hit?

They won't hit w/ that method but it doesn't make for a very compact setup.

only slightly less compact than a vert bar, just because the mounts are running up and down, not sideways... maybe an extra 3, 4 inches. Most shows I go to, I'm the only person taping, so it's not like I have to deal with a clamp-crowded stand or anything.

I say go for it man... but you can also easily get a longer screw and some pvc tubing and build your own riser-mod for that akg bar... i've done it and it works great with my lux mounts!
