Question about 4.7k modding
« on: April 15, 2019, 06:45:48 PM »
I have a mic that's been modded for the 4.7k thingy ... My question is can I now only use mic-in power or is it still okay to use a battery box (via line in) for juice as well?

No, battery box is fine. The mod reduces the sensitivity, though, I think.

That's correct.  The modification allows use of the microphones in higher SPL situation.  It does not effect powering requirements.  With or without the mod, microphones will usually perform better using proper voltage powering supplied by a battery box than lower voltage powering via the recorders PIP.
