This next project is a bit of a twist from other projects I have undertaken. Instead of starting with a prior table, e.g., Thorens TD series, i decided to make one out of 3 inch rock maple.
Here is the specs so far:
Plinth: 3 inch rock maple
Arm Board: Carbon fiber, balsa wood sandwich construction.
Motor board: 6mm carbon fiber
Tonearm: New Jelco 750 modded with VTA micro adjustment
Motor: New Origin Live
Bearing and spindle VPI 2.5 acrylic/inverted bearing.
Feet: Carbon fiber, chromed brass spikes on carbon fiber pad
Arcylic cover
Custom Canare DIN cable
Cartridge: Denon DL103s with baron cantilever and Shabata tip
I just sent the bearing back to VPI for a complete overhaul so that the thrust pad and bearing can be replace, creating an almost brand new bearing assembly. It should arrive back any day.
Prior to sending it out I gave the table a bit of a spin and was really, really happy with the sound.

I know virtually nothing about turntables but that looks really nice!

Thanks! I try to aim for the look to be at least as good as the sound.
