Taping John Mayer
« on: July 08, 2004, 09:37:20 AM »
Yeah, yeah, laugh all you want, but I'm going to White River Amph because Maroon5 will be there.  What I want to know is, am I going to get hell from security bringing in my taping gear?  Or is Mayer taper-friendly enough that I won't have a problem.  According to his message board, I'll most likely be the only taper there because "Mayer just isn't very heavily covered, taper-wise. Sometimes, it's considered lucky to have at least one taper at any of his shows..."

Give my regards to Maroon 5's manager. Just bring a picture of me instead of the taping policy, hopefully he knows to inform the venue about this crap by now.

I'm sure Mike Vernal will be there, he loves Mayer.

You shouldn't have a problem.  I'll be hitting the Camden and Montage Mountain shows myself.

The venue (White River) can be a bit tweaky about bringing packs & stands (or even a blanket) in sometimes. This is definitely a place where 'arrive early' is a mantra.

I am doing Clark County in Ridgefield, WA and am expecting hell....they've never had a taper friendly band there yet since it has been opened last year except for Mayer last year and there were no tapers for that show.

I did email the venue here today and they replied that audio is allowed and I should have no problems with getting my gear in...so that is a good sign that they are well informed.   Now with the chimps working inside these big venues you never know, let's hope they are well informed as well.
