I've just bought a CA STC-9000 along with a pair of CA-11 cards (my first mics other the Zoom H1 internal ones), but now I have a question about the pre-amp. I was under the impression this model had a switch for 0, +10 and +30 gain - but my copy only has a two step "gain range" switch labelled as "low/hi". What gain should I expect from each of these settings?
-
I've never seen a lo/hi on a 9000 so can't say what the gain range is; however, if the gain switch actually has three positions the gain is +10 - up, 0 - middle, +30 - down when the switch is in the coresponding position.
-
Yeah, that's what I was expecting, but the switch really only has two positions:

seems like a quick PM or email to Chris Church is in order then so he can tell you what you have

Yeah, I sent him a PM right after your suggestion, but he hasn't replied yet. I'm mostly concerned that the "low" setting won't be low enough for massively loud shows (stuff like My Bloody Valentine). I know I can attenuate the output, but I don't want to overwhelm the pre-amp itself.
