I bought Energizer NiMh rechargable batteries and the charger that comes with it. It seems that it takes a long time to charge batteries that have been used very little. Does this charger first drain the batteries and then recharge them every time?

Seems like it takes mine about 15 minutes to charge...AA

What is the capacity of your batteries? I don't have an energizer charger or batteries... But my batteries are AA 2700 mAh. With a MaHa charger, typical recharge from totally empty takes about 45 min. If I choose to condition the batteries (charge -> discharge -> charge which is a press of the button on my charger.) the process takes about 10 hours.
1000 mAh AAA take about 20 min to charge when fully empty.
If I had to guess I think most energizer AAs are anywhere from 2000-2500mAh.

Are they the Rayovac I-C3 2000mAh 15 minute batteries ? ......if you have the correct charger they take 15 minutes...Which charger do you have ? ...If you have different batteries or charger, I will take much longer.....I also have a Maha charger and agree with china regarding the times......Did you fully charge them when you got them ? ........NiMH have a tendency to "bleed" power when they are left just sitting around, unlike alkaline.......Post a picture so we can see what battery and charger you have....Hope this helps....

I have the compact charger that came with the batteries. http://energizer.com/products/rechargeables/sizes.aspx
It seems to take about 9 hours to charge the 2500 mah batteries regardless of use. Doug Oade recommended the LaCrosse BC-900 charger, but it seems to backordered everywhere I look. Is the MAHA MH-C801D BATTERY CHARGER a good way to go? http://www.thomasdistributing.com/maha-mh-c801d-battery-charger.htm

I used the same 2 sets of 4 AAs in my digi-cam for nearly a year...they were pretty strong for at least 6 months...
The batteries do get pretty warm when charging...

Yep, that's the one I use. It'll charge 8 in an hour, or 2 hours on the slow charge mode. It also has a handy conditioning cycle.
