well my V3 finally needs to be sent back for an adjustment. i was wondering what is the best and cheapest battery to use to power it? Would like 1 that would run for 14 hrs or so. but if 2 batteries of another type that is cheaper than i am willing to go that route too. since i am sending it back 6 0r the 12 volt are both options. oh yah and i need a cord for it too..
thanks for any help

6v and I think a lot of us would may agree that the DVD batteries are the best way to go. Not so sure on cheapest these days.
I can't remember the run time on mine now but I think it was close to 6 hours for a 9v 5400 mah
As for a plug I'm pretty sure someone here makes them still. I bought one from a person on here long ago that doesn't frequent here much.
I just had the v3 part of the cable made up and matched it to a connector that worked for my power setup.
You can run right from the battery, the v3 will shed the excess volts as heat.
I know some folks have ran the rc NMH batteries and those can be another option.

Have not run my v3 in awhile but I think I was getting 8+ hours off a tekkeon mp3450. 5-6 hours sounds right off a DVD battery, depending on the mah. I can hook you up with a power cable when you do decide on your best external solution.

Cheapest way is your car's battery :)
It'd run for weeks, like Forest Gump. It'll run so long, you won't be able to catch it.

You want to have it set to 6V as the V3's initial power stage uses a Linear Regulator so the less Voltage you supply it the more efficient it will run (and less heat it will generate).

Get ted to make you a hot swapable cable. have the V3 set to 6v. get two DVD batteries, and see this thread: http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=153993.0;all
you'll be able to run the V3 for days.

just don't forget to store your batteries at a less than full charge, preferably in a cool dry place
mine do just fine under the eggs in my fridge :) (in sandwhich bags of course)
