Always the same question: will it be possible to use it as a standalone preamp connecting the rca phono out (or the balanced outs) to a deck's line-in bypassing the a-d stage?

Yeah...I was thinking it could be powered without a computer...figures. Anyone have any idea if its possible or even feasible to hack it to run via batteries?

I've pretty much given up on trying to power external soundcards over USB. There are always issues: the unit needs to get data from the USB host, or the settings are done via software (P48 on/off, bitrate, frequency, etc).

For those who own a UA25 EX, it would be nice to get a verification whether it can be done, but I wouldn't hope for it. Anyway, there are plenty of other DC powered soundcards that are easier to handle.
