The Wordpress plugin I use on my site as a media player, ExFM, is ceasing operations. The last one I used was Yahoo Media Player, which also shut down. It looks like Compact WP Audio Player Plugin is popular, but it requires adding a tag to all my posts; the players I've used automatically queue up anything with a .mp3 extension. I have over 700 posts, so I don't want to have to create new links for each song on those.
Does anyone have one to recommend that they like?

Leave the old plugin installed, and move forward with either native MP3 support in newer wordpress or mp3-jplayer which has nice playlist features.
Unless the old plugin is broken no need to stop using it.

My understanding is that the old one will break after the weekend. Someone else also just suggested m3-jplayer, I'll take a look at that. Thanks

As you know, we pay for two different Soundcloud premium accounts in order to run nice streaming embedded players on our posts.
Sadly, we used that wordpress mp3 player for about a year, so it will suck majorly if all of those links go dead. I went back and fixed up the entire site month by month about a year ago, and I'm not looking forward to doing that again!

Weird, I can't think of a programming reason why the plugin will stop working.

It would be great if it didn't. The email I got said
Back in December, we announced we were going to shut down Exfm. While we were able to keep it running for a few more months, unfortunately that is no longer the case. On Monday, May 19th, 4 days from now, we are going to shut down Exfm. This includes the website, mobile apps, extensions and API.
and I assumed that will break it?

I've tried EXFM, but it doesn't support iOS streaming... it probably did before it was cancelled and stopped publishing updates. I haven't found another player that is as straightforward and easy to use as EXFM however. Soundcloud has nice embeds, but the website has so many glitches it's annoying to maintain the tracks and info, so I cancelled the subscription.

Somewhat good news. Any plain mp3 link (http://kennedy-williams.net/mp3/2011-11-19%20In%20Lake'ch%20-%20%20Don't%20Let%20Go.mp3) or something in Wordpress, automatically is replaced with a player in recent versions of WordPress.

I experimented with jplayer last night, and it automatically detects the MP3s like my old player did. So it looks like after some tweaking of the settings I'll be able to switch without having to add any tags!

I'm still using the Yahoo player. I just downloaded the code to my site and it works. It doesn't do gapless playback though. I'm still looking for a free player that'll do gapless. I'm not using WordPress. I did all the coding myself.

ExFM did stop working tonight. Still haven't figured out how to get the same functionality out of jplayer
