Title: Edirol R-09 question - recorder was running, file isn't there.
Post by: GNRrockslife on November 01, 2014, 01:10:12 PM
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

The past two nights I taped shows with my Edirol R-09. Of course I had the hold switch on during the shows so nothing accidentally got pushed. After both shows the Edirol was still recording fine when I went to stop it. I turned it off immediately after stopping the recording, and put the hold switch back on once it was off. Now I'm home and going to transfer the files to my computer, and only the first night is on there - the file just doesn't exist for the second show. I'm completely at a loss as to what could've happened (And incredibly disappointed, last night was a very special show that I doubt anyone else was taping at). I'm just curious if anyone has had an issue like this before.

Did you try the file recovery option?  I forget which menu option it is.

No, I didn't know there was a file recovery option. I checked the usage on the SD card, and there was more space used than should've been for the one file, but not as much as should've been for both files. I'll see if I can figure out the file recovery.

I would copy the one file you do have off the card before you start.

p. 70 of the manual should help.

Just looked at that. The problem is, the second file just doesn't exist - there's only the one file listed on the finder menu. So how would it be able to repair the second file if I can't access it from the menu?

Did you try to see if the Repair menu comes up?  It will only come up if there is a file to fix.  I think it will see the file you cannot see and fix it.

Yeah, I couldn't get the repair menu to pop up at all. All that is on the finder menu is the first file, and there's no repair option for that (Not that there should be since I've transferred that file and it's fine). So since the second file won't show, is there any way it just…didn't save when I ended the recording for some reason? ???

The R-09 and R-09HR save the files even when the batteries die, so not closing it properly isn't the issue.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I'm having the exact same problem......
