Title: Upgrade recs from AM X-Streams
Post by: LeftoverSammy on January 03, 2006, 04:23:22 PM
So, what would be the next step up from the X-Streams that folks seem to favor? Any suggestions besides DIY's packages that are being offered?

They would be running with my MG>V3 combo

Just fishing around for some ideas with a wad of OT $ to spend.... :hmmm:

AM Xstreams are good cables.  save your $ or spend it elsewhere.  but if that $'s really burning a hole... send me $200 and your XStreams and I'll throw some nice colored techflex over it and send them back to you.   ;)

I used to own X-Streams and ran them since 99, however, I bought the leegeddy ones in early feb and really do notice a HUGE difference

really opened them up and gave them alot more detail

since the toddr cables are prolly exactly the same(military spec silver-clad copper) id say contact toddr

if you dont like them, they will sell easily

I hear quite a few folks talk about these..and Chris Jones uses them as well.  , Sammy.

I use ToddR cables, and have one pair of Leegeddys. I like them quite a bit. Very well made.

Yeah Sammy, check my post at the top of the retail section and drop me a line if you're interested.  I've run Xstreams, Sceptor IIs, Hyperconductors, and now my Segue Dogstar silver-clad cables.  I'd say my Dogstars are more akin to the AM Hyperconductors, both of which I've found to be an upgrade over the Xstreams.

Intersting....I have a custom pair of Luminous Audio Monarch Series I use with my mod Nak700's. They sound great but can't test them with my MG's (have a BNC connects). I have a contact within Luminous...I should chech them out.

I'm also intersted in the Dogstars....can you FWD pix? How much are we talking here for 15ft pair?

IMO, you'd be much better off spending the money on a 24 bit recorder.  as much as I liked the V3 at 16 bit, it just a lot better at 24.  smoother and more natural.  and a great match with the gefells :)  switching from 16 bit to 24 bit will definitely yield a bigger change in the sound than upgrading cables.

As I said, check my post in the Retail section (http://taperssection.com/index.php?topic=49744.0) for more info and pictures.  A 15' pair is $115.
