Couldn't you just use something like (for example) a stereo rca>1/8 and send each mono signal that way (rca's)?  You wouldn't be able to adjust each channel separately, though.  Is that what you're asking?

On the THAT-1 there is only a single RCA Jack.  I was hoping it is possible, without having to go into post to record in mono simultaneously on both tracks.  There was an option like this (called multiple mono) on the PMD670 - A single mic would record the same audio (levels and all) on both channels.
i have not been able to find anything in the menu's or manuals...

There's a switch on the back of the r-09 for using exteral mics where you can switch from stereo to mono.
