Can you go line-in on a V3 and by pass the pre-amp?

If memory servies, you don't so much bypass the preamp as go through the same gain stage with very little gain applied.  You could either:

[1] run stock with the gain very low and adjust as necessary
[2] switch the internal jumpers to drop the gain stage -20dB and adjust the variable gain the same way as in [1]
