Safari is the best browser for the MAC.
hopefully Apple will release the updates to KHTML so KDE can integrate them into Konqueror.
that would give KDE/Linux the 2 best browsers available

I've played around with many, but continue to use IE 6 SP1 since that's what I support at work.  Firefox will be sweet once they iron out a few more "quirks".  Love the tabbed browsing...

Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

you guys wanna hear something really funny?  ok at school we use this site called "oncourse" to manage all our classes.  usually they keep copies of all the course info there, the syllabi, assignments.  Here's the deal- it has to be viewed with IE or netscape.  But here's the kicker- we have 15 or so mac labs on campus.  They only have Safari installed on the macs.  So if you are using a campus computer you cant get to probably the most important site on campus.

Oh, and btw, just reboot the machine onto an OS X disc and you can change the admin password.  Couldn't be easier.

To enable the debug menu, paste this into the terminal when Safari is not running:
Code: [Select]
defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 1

Firefox pretty much 100% now.

I am actually pushing for us to all use Firefox at work as it cuts down on vulnerability to spyware/popups. IE is still king with my clients, though, so i have to develop with it a lot for work.

As much as I'd love to switch to opera or firefox, IE6 is still the most compatible - so that's what I use.

Once opera gets a little more compatible I might switch to that.  I really like a lightweight browser.  Firefox seems as clunky and slow as NS ever was.  Sure it's a little more compatible than NSx, but nowhere near perfect.

not exactly...

and what happens if you go to the site with safari?  it just doesn't work?  is the site specifically locking out non-IE or netscape browsers?  if so, that's a *horrible* design

I'm pretty much exclusive to safari now (on the mac it's all I use) IE on the PC at home which gets very little use by me these days ;D. I'm not sue why stuff does not work in Safari is it not based on Netscape? Seems like the source code can't be that different. But then I'm a printing graphics guy with only a fair amount of web experience.

it was written to lock out other non-major browsers.  dont ask me why.  supposedly starting next week it is supposed to start just warning that you arent using a supported browser and then allow you to continue.  ill believe it when i see it

I've had compatibility issues with Opera as well, though haven't experienced any with Firefox.  I love the tabbed browsing in Firefox, and really really really love the keyboard navigation - makes it so I can rip through TS.com (and most other sites that aren't god-awful over-done with Flash and such) without having to use the damn rodent.  Nice!!

Because of the way Firefox loads pages, I initially thought it was slower than IE, but it's actually faster IME.

Hmmm, very interesting comments.  I typically have about 8 browser windows or so open.  It sucked ass before I installed Firebird (now Firefox).  I can't imagine using anything else.  Yeah there's the occasional site that doesn't work properly, but a) it's because of poor coding on the web page, and b) how hard is it to fire up IE for that site?

And yeah Ska, I would have to agree.  Tables load as they come in with Firefox, whereas you have to wait for the whole thing to download before it will appear in IE.  I like that a lot.

Plus I've had IE crash on me a LOT more than I've had Firefox do so.

+T to mirth for the only text browser on the list

Anything with tabbed browsing is king for me.  I like to multitask a lot with my broadband and am doing shit on all sorts of sites at the same time.  I used to use Konquorer (which Safari is based on) but while it renders pages beautifully (clean anti-aliased fonts, etc.) it is much slower then both Mozilla and Navigator for me.  Reasons unknown but the difference is measurable, I chaulk it up to it's nice rendering really.

Unfortunately for me I am a web developer and 99.54984323% of my clients/users are on IE so I develop and debug using IE6.
