AKG ck61 screen is loose
« on: November 17, 2013, 03:23:34 PM »
Anybody familiar with taking the capsule apart.  The gray screen inside the housing is loose.  It doesn't cause any problems, but annoying to me.  Is this an easy fix?

Taking this capsule apart is not a good idea. What screen are we talking about the one on the side or the top?

I have opened capsules and adjusted the screens on ck_x and ck6_ capsules.  The ck1x have bolts on the sides while the ck6_ capsules unscrew from the bottom, twisting the white plastic part (see picture link below).  I am not advising you to do it, just suppling the info on what i did.  I am not willing to do it for you because i don't want to be responsible if something happens.  Hit up Richard Land ($$$$$$) at land audio if you don't want to try it on your own.

on the side
Use a very tiny amount of epoxy on the grill where it meets the metal just two tiny drops on each side and I mean tiny somthing in the order of a pin head. You want to use 5 minute epoxy. And thats just to anchor the screen to the capsule body. Its quick and dirty do not use any other glue except epoxy. And use a small tooth pick to do it. You dont want to get very much on the screen so you dont clog the vent obviously.
