I believe the word was "minidisc is dead" not minidisc is going to get better.
I'm pretty sure sony has finally let the idea of overpriced removeable media devices die, since it's not like a lot of people really like their non-standard players that only work with proprietary media enough to buy them as music players over non-removeable storage devices for comparable prices.
Who's going to buy a HiMD for music, even with 2gb, when you can buy a 4gb Ipod nano for less money?
Recording on them is only a very very small niche market, which is obvious from their copy control scheme, which doesn't even let YOU the RECORDER transfer a recording from a HiMD more than once. (oh and good luck if it fucks up the first time you do it... cause at that point, you're hosed and your recording is gone!).
Sony's an obsolete dinosaur. They're not really learning from their mistakes, but the minidisc experiment is at least dead for good I believe.
