how about those new shotguns schoeps has now?...or shall I say I just noticed where around...wonder what those sound like
they sound pretty good. a little thin on the high end and not as much low end as the mk41, but very similar in sound. essentially they are designed to replace the mk41/cut1 that was the standard in film/tv. now the cmit has become the standard not only because it has the cut1 feature plus other setting right on the mic but is also considerable lighter. the only pitfall is that it is much longer, and to me this is a major drawback (see post about the 81i). overall i like it, but running tests between this and the 81i, the neumann beats it hands down when applied to both booming actors and concert taping. the true test of the 81i will be recording matrices of bonnaroo this year from the larger stages and be able to reach the stacks from the sbd and still get a good solid 'tape'.
