BG 10-14-88???
« on: October 25, 2007, 02:15:20 PM »
Will this work with a 6volt V3? I'm thinking not unless the V3 is 12volt, right?

It will work fine with a 6v V3.  The V3's low battery indicator and auto-shutoff won't function properly, but the BG has a meter on it, so the V3's aren't really needed.

It will only work with a 12v V3 if the voltage setting on the BG is > 12v, roughly.

Picked up one of these during the week, and oddly enough hooked up the DMM to check the unloaded voltage at full charge last night. Without a load the 10-14-88 was putting out 12.2V. I should be able to check loaded voltage in the next day or two with any luck.

So the BG has voltage regulator. Sorry, didn't know that.

FWIW powering a hdp2 the output voltage of the 10-14-88 has ranged from slightly over 12V when full, and is currently showing 8V with no lights showing on the battery level meter. For most of the time it's been outputting slightly above 11V.

How about with an MR-1?   They run around 5 volts, correct?

BG 10-14-88 will only work with an MR-1 with an external VR as the 10-14 means it is rated at 10 to 14 Volts.  The MR-1 is rated at 5 V.  So you will need to get a different model or build a higher Amp VR.

You can get new Tekkeon MP3300s on ebay for about $70 and this should power the MR-1 for about 10-12 hours and has adjustable output voltage from 3.3V to 12V (I believe -> it may go higher).  It's only rated at 35 Wh or so where as the BG 10-14-88 is 88Wh.

Since it will work a 6v V3, will work with 6v V2?
