LEMO Part number for AKG MK46
« on: November 12, 2007, 06:26:59 PM »
Anyone know the part number for the lemo connector used on the AKG MK46 active cable? Wanting to make some extensions.

Try sending a PM to 'esteyes' (Neil S.)  He has the schematics somehwere, has rebuilt his own a few times, and is currently working on the AKG actives project.  I'm sure he could help.

//hijack mode on

Are there ANY options out there for going lemo connector to CK6X capsule...homebrew or pro?  I just bought Andrew Berg's AK46 cables just to have them and I will of course jump at any future yard sale offers to sell ck1x, ck2x, or ck3x, but in the meantime I was just wondering if anybody has jury-rigged a workable solution to go from lemo to the CK61, 62 or 63 caps...or I suppose another option would be to replace the lemo on the cables with something that works with the 6x series capsules.

Thanks for letting me hijack long enough to ask.

Unless you find a used JK Labs unit, or build your own box, then there is no option for using CK6x capsules actively.

in the original setup, akg paired the 460's not with the new CK6x caps, but elected to modify the previous series of caps - the CKx's. so the MK46 has some electronics in the portion that screws onto the 460 body. the caps were CKx caps that were also changed in that they lengthened the capsule housing in order to accomodate the LEMO connector mount as well as the additional electronics required to make remoting of the caps a functional setup.

i suggest you follow the akg active thread. there were many contributors, but for some reason it seems i am the one pursuing this to completion. i will add to the list the need for an "adapter" to allow 460 + MK46 owners to be able to plug in CK6x caps to their existing setup. in actuality, this might be the easiest thing to make...

so back to the original question before the hi-jack. Neil, Do you know the part number for the Lemo connector on the MK46 cable that plugs into the CK-1x capsule?

FFA.0S.303.CLAC17 but don't hold me to it. they make three different sizes for the three pin connectors. i would have to get out the venier and check. i will do it tonite or tomorrow and repost.

lemo's are pretty robust... hard as hell to solder... any reason you need some??

Lemos are great, if you can find a source for new parts.  I didn't find them hard to solder.  The trick is having thin wires to fit into the pins.  I built a battery for for Aberg to run CK1x caps.  He bought a cable on Ebay and we scavenged the connectors from that.  So, yes, I have soldered these :).

Please DO NOT mail me with tech questions.  I will try to answer in the forums when I get a chance.  Thanks.

Im going to make extensions for my MK46 cables that will also double as a cable for a 3 wire battery box to power just the capsules for stealth stuff.  Thanks for the help with the part #'s Neil. +T.  Any chance you have a place that sells them?

Richard.  Which pin was which when you wired it for battery box usage?

Thats the same part number I used.  I'm planning to build some cables and bypass the mic bodies.

There are a few choices depending on cable size

Straight Plug
FFA.OS.303.CLACxx
where xx is a number to indicate the maximum cable size OD
1.3-1.6mm suffex 17
3-3.6mm suffex 37
3.3-4.1mm suffex 42
3.5-4.3mm suffex 44
