Title: Old School : QED preamp
Post by: Roving Sign on October 04, 2006, 07:37:16 PM
Just got this thing cheap...15 bucks...

Smaller than the NAK MX100 - and much lighter...runs on 12V DC

I seldom stealth - or even need a DC powered rig - but I thought this looks like fun...

Will report back later...

That looks like a good preamp to hack.. Get that ne5532 out and replace it with a OPA2227PA chip.. or TLO82 that's a good place to start I would ditch the electrolytic's in the signal path the two coupling caps near the IC that are electrolytic can go bye bye.. I would put in Tantalum or Mylar 10uf in there place.

Thanks for the info - maybe this is where I begin my hacking career!

QED is British stuff I think...
