Title: adding chapters in vegas?
Post by: beatkilla on October 30, 2006, 02:53:01 PM
So i'm new to vegas and i have figured out how to synch multi camera and seperate audio and switch between the cams fine using excalibur.

I have yet to figure out how to add chapters for each song.I'm rendering in vegas and then importing to architect for DVD burn.

On my first project i noticed that on each cam switch the dvd had a chapter 99 to be exact,on my next project i marked the ignore markers in project and its all one track.

On the next try i deleted all the cam switches in the timeline and than added markers for where i want each song to begin, but those didn't travel into architect.

My question: Is it easier to add the chapters in the vegas timeline or to do that in architect?

And most importantly can you give me instructions on how to do this.I have the manuals but it seems to assume you already know what your doing and i don't really.

So in laymans terms please.
And should i be using menu based or music/comp. in architect?

Thanks for any tips.

If you added in markers before, I'll assume you know how to do it (for anyone else who is wondering - hit the "m" key).

When you render the mpeg2, make sure the "save project markers in the media file" box is clicked (at the bottom of the "render as" window).  It should be clicked by default though, so I'm not sure why it didn't work for you.

never used architect/excalibur before, but what i've been doing is
1. use vegas to synch angles and mix using the open/close envelope system and spit out one giant avi file.
2. use a proggy to compress avi>mpeg2
3. scenarist to do menues/chapter splits etc.

i dunno if that helps you any.

The nice thing about Vegas/DVD Architect is that you can add the markers in on the timeline in Vegas (which is a lot easier to do than putting them in using an authoring program).  And when you drop the finished mpeg into DVD Architect, the chapter markers are embedded in the mpeg file.

You should try the 15 day trial version of excalibur.Look for at www.jetdv.com

I couldn't imagine doing multicam without it.
