Topic: Last minute advice on outdoor taping

Taping the Wakarusa festival this weekend and I've never really taped outside before or at large concerts. My setup is akg 391's>AD-20>JB3. And I've got a 13 ft stand and the big Shure windscreens. Thanks in advance.

sounds like your all set.  Go, set up the 391's DIN, then levels and enjoy.  If the stage seems to have a heavy low end, i'd run XY, but DIN is probably the best mic config for the 391's.  I only run XY when i think its gonna be bass heavy.  good luck, make some good tapes, take good pics, and get real shitty.

Some practical info; take an umbrella, duct tape, lots of garbage bags, and a small towel incase of rain!!! Also, dont keep the JB3 in sunlight, or let it get to hot, mine froze durring Los Lobos @ Bonnaroo. I covered the bag with an umbrella and had no problems the rest of the day! Lemmie know if you need anymore help.

Ya, despite your best efforts, somthing may get a little wet, and I found myself without a little towel @ the dead the other night and no way to wipe of the little bit of water on the JB3. Luckally a fellow taper had one!

Got a question on outdoor taping - I'm planning to stealth record a gig using SPCMC2 (AT831) mics.

These are pretty sensitive to wind noise - any suggestions (apart from use the foam covers, which I will do).

I normally clip them to my collar.
