Man i really need some attenuators!!!
« on: September 05, 2009, 11:56:50 AM »
I have been trying to get some good matrix recordings lately and everytime as of lately the signal from the board has just been KILLING my Zoom H4n!  I think I found a guy on here with some attenuators for sale, I sure hope they help!  I have had a chance to pull SBD recordings from 4 concerts in the last month or so but just end up using the mic recordings just because the signal is brick walled coming into my recorder from the board.  It's kinda bummin' me out as the outdoor concert season is coming to an end....

I did last night but apparently they just got the board and it was all computerized, they weren't even really sure how to route the mix to an output on the board.  They finally figured it out and gave me a mono out, i asked them if they could turn it down and they looked puzzled so I gave up.  Attenuators should fix the problem, hopefully....

Sounds like you found an attenuator I had the same problem and did a search to find one and here is what I got. It does a good job .I havent needed it much since I got it but I am now prepared. I use it with H2 Zoom.
 cost about 17.00 with postage.

I've seen those before, never used one. It's a simple "L-pad" Design. If the components are good, then it should be fine. If not, not so much.

I bought a pair of Shure switchable in-line attenuators from Full Compass, and they work fine. They're just fixed resistors rather than a pot, which may be better for long term reliability.

I have an H4n as well. The input is sensitive.

I think I found a source for some XLR's, i really don't want to adapt to RCA if I don;t have too...
