Audio Editors for Mac??
« on: August 03, 2006, 05:42:16 PM »
Alright, so I ordered a Mac Mini (duo 2gig RAM) the other day b/c I've always wanted to explore the Mac world.  I've searched the forum for some info on audio editors for the Mac b/c I'm going to try to not use my PC at all and see how it goes, but I haven't found really a definitive answer on what is *the* tool to use.  I'm looking for a pseudo-Wavelab replacement if at all possible.  I need to be able to split files easily, dither 24bit to 16bit, resample, etc.  Speaking of dithering, does anything for Mac have Apogee's uv22hr plugin?  And what about DVD-audio?  From what I can tell from the archives there isn't a DVD-A authoring solution for Mac?  Typically I record at 24/96 so I can do DVD-video most of the time, but I do occassionally run 24/192 for grins and I need to be able to put that to DVD-A.

Mitch

Edit:

So I've been searching around and stumbled across Boot Camp.  I suppose installing that and dual booting into XP just to run Wavelab would be a (last resort) option.

Drop in on Team Mac Geeks, there's plenty of info there. Can't help you out on 24-bit stuff as I only work in 16, but you can do DVD-A with DVD-AudioFile (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28674). As for shn/flac/md5/ffp/shntool, xACt/xACt/xACt/xACt/xACt (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/21952). :)

Cubase is as close to WaveLab as you'll get on the Mac.

It does have UV22
