USB pin outs for 5v?
«

So I have been able to find some info on USB pinouts or pin assignments.
generally it appears that Pins 1 and 4 are the primary power pins.
1 is red or + 5v
4 is black or Ground
making this assumption I'd like to make a simple USB 5v power cable.
It's likely not critical voltage as I am attempting to wire some LED xmas type light strings that are normally powered by 4.5 v or 3 AA batteries.
You ask why, for festivals and for camping in my 8x10' teardrop trailer with 12v power outlets. It's already got a number of LED lights but hey are really F-ing bright and I'm looking for a more festive subdued option and an alternative to using AA or NIMH AA's
I've got plenty of 12v power while camping.
Also I may use this set up with a stroller and a LI-Ion USB back up battery for late night with my 3.5 year old son so we can cruise in safety... that's another story.
Wondering if anyone has thoughts on a 4.5v LED string powered with a 5v usb plug instead. Seems to me the slight power difference would be fine.
Thoughts or input is welcome!

Jon,
thanks!
Would you advise adding a resistor or two inline, usually when powering LEDs this is what I have done as it was reccommended to slow the current drain.
If so can us perhaps suggest a resistance?

Got it , thanks.
I'll try and figure out if and what resistor(s) it may need.
