Mme S/PDIF out replacement
« on: January 30, 2006, 06:46:49 AM »
Nobody likes throwin a hotdog down a hallway,
and that's exactly how the coax out of my Mme feels like.
The hole is like twice as bit as it should be.
Right now Im running a M1 so my AES > coax cable is fine,
but Im finally gonna be getting rid of
                              :gun:                     DAT.                :rockets:

I know this is a common problem with some Mmes so...

What have people done to remedy this problem?

Can anyone here put a new coax out in there?

Nothin better than a hot night of FOB action in the crunch
just to find out theres a whole gang of dropouts in your tape,
and could have just enjoyed the show.

I've never had this issue... the coax out of my MME fits my cable quite well.

sorry to hear that's not the case for you.

well.. I went and spoke too soon.  I'm switching to right angle cabling to get everything a couple inches lower when run vertically and picked up a right-angle coax adapter at ratshack that has the exact problem you describe... it just doesnt quite seat onto the output enough to make me feel that it is not going anywhere.... now I need to find a right-angle adapter that is more like the digi-cable I'm using which seats beautifully.

Damn, thet sucks. I must have jinxed ya.
Mine is terribley loose though, like if ya pick up the Mme the cable just falls out. :o
I knew it was like this when I bought it though, but I didn't know the D8 couldnt take the AES signal.
(should have figured) Had to get a M1. But oh well looks like Ill be gettin a lappy and be running USB out anyway so...
I just want it fixed for peace of mind, if I ever have to run a D8 on short notice or for a patcher.
I may try to do it myself. I can solder/desolder but not so confident in that arena.

I also tried to use a RA adaptor with tape around the Mme to hold it in, but that wasn't enough cause the male has to be at an angle just to make contact. One little bump and it loses contact.
