HD-P2 + DPA 4061
« on: August 31, 2007, 04:26:58 PM »

 Hi !

My next equipment will be a HD-P2 Tascam unit and a pair of DPA 4061 mics.
I wonder if it's worth buyin' a pre-amp, not really cheap, as MMA6000, or
i could obtain a good powered signal with this set

 Thanks

the 4061's don't take phantom power, right? (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)
the HD-P2 only supplies phantom power, so, at the very least, you'll need a battery box to power the mics.
maybe it'll be worthwhile to get an outboard pre-amp (instead of just a battery box), but maybe not.

You can get microdot>xlr adaptors that will allow powering via phantom power from the recorder (or preamp) - the DAD6001's.  I used to run 4061's> DAD6001> V2/V3 this way.  Worked just like any other mic, no problem getting good levels with average gain.

The DPA SMK4061 is an stereo kit that has two hand-matched 4061 omni
microphones, along with microdot to XLR adapters that allow the mics to receive
  +48v phantom power
