Topic: Am I missing something? unmod ??

I am doing the "unmod" to my SP version of AT853's (I have the version with the gooseneck).  I've hacked off the end where the miniplug was.  I'm testing the bare leads with a multimeter--there is no connection between the leads and the microphone end (where the caps screw on).  There is not even a resistive connection.  Am I missing something???
