Distortion
« on: February 29, 2004, 03:56:28 PM »
Newbe question.  I taped a local band durning Mardi Gras.  They were outside and on a second story porch.  I used AT835b mics from across the street and the recording came out great.  The band was so delighted that they ask me to tape themn in a local club last night.  I used two Rode NT1-A thinking this would be fine for a club.  Not so.  Distortion from the first bar.  The mikes were about 10 feet apart on 8 foot stands and about 25 feet in front of the band.  I tried turning the mikes so they faced away from the band thinking this might reduce the sound level but it did not help.  Is this because the mike just cannot handle high sound levels?  Any help is appreciated.
