software to track shows recorded digitally
« on: October 06, 2004, 12:56:08 PM »
Can anyone recommend good software to use to easily track shows that are recorded digitally?  I use Home Studio now, and its a pain.  I need to go through and cut out each song individually and save each individually, then create a cd.  Is there anything out there that I can just insert track tags or something, save it and burn the whole thing at once?

I use soundforge using the region menus.

I have heard CDWave can be used, and I think its free, but I have never used it before.
Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

Heres another vote for CD Wave. Its very easy to use:

Also, once you've tracked the recording, you can save the cue sheet for future reference. Handy.

I am going to have to try CDWave, I think.  I like SF, but it takes a while to load and stuff.

The cue sheet takes editing afterwards, too...

click on their username on the left, scrool down, and you'll see a "send member a private message" link.  Self explanatory from there!

Your PM's can be accessed in the top right corner of the home page.

well, what if you open your original wav(off of jb3), open immediately in cdwave, put a marker at the beginning and end of each set, then resample/edit, then track in cdwave>FLAC ???

cause i for the life of me cant get shntool to work, i suck at dos :P

cdwave doesn't 'mess up' on the last track of a wav. 99% of the time when you hit the stop button you're not ending the recording on a sector boundry. The easiest way to take care of this is to drop a track marker 1ms before the end of your recording and then cut the file up. Delete the garbage track (I usually tell cdwave to name it trash or garbage or some crap like that) and yer done. Handy also that it can encode straight to flac. Purists will probably want to continue writing the wav tracks then encode as a later step...

I also like how cdwave can be used for *recording*. Since switching to cdwave from WaveLab for field recording I haven't had a failed session. W/WaveLab I'd periodically get glitches from closing the lid on my laptop, plus I'd encounter buffer underruns.

Now I rely on an external meter (SVU-1) and leave the lid closed once I hit record.
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

okay - I downloaded Cd Wave.  I have a disc from one of our shows that is in .wav format already, and is not tracked.  I extracted it to CD Wave and when I play it, it plays at like 5 times the normal speed and has pops and clicks - what am I doing wrong?!?!?!
