okay - I downloaded Cd Wave.  I have a disc from one of our shows that is in .wav format already, and is not tracked.  I extracted it to CD Wave and when I play it, it plays at like 5 times the normal speed and has pops and clicks - what am I doing wrong?!?!?!

did ya get my email mitchell ???

well, what if you open your original wav(off of jb3), open immediately in cdwave, put a marker at the beginning and end of each set, then resample/edit, then track in cdwave>FLAC ???

cause i for the life of me cant get shntool to work, i suck at dos :P

unless you throw out the very last track of output from cdwave you will have a boundary error with that last track...its really not a big deal that last track error (unless you are appending filler tracks after it)...but you should be CHECKING with shntool to make sure everything went correctly anyway

shntool is super easy to use..i'm betting the problems you are having is that you dont have shntool and related files on your PATH so when you type "shntool" it gives you a "command not found" type of error

you can download the shntool package and copy all the files into a directory that is already on your path (like c:\windows\system32 or c:\winnt\system32) and you should be able to call the shntool command from a command line started anywhere

or grab my shnizzle package which has some other scripts and commands you need to do SHN/FLAC related stuff as well as the straight shntool fixing..follow the install instructions and you should be good to go

yeah, i trash the beginning and end of each set, would that result in a sector boundary on the 'last' track still once i go back and track it ???

i have shntool on my comp, ive tried it and i have had NO success :P

but i will try again right now :)

i think i sense some deep seeded fear of command line

its simple

copy shntool into your windows\system32 directory and then type "shntool' at a command prompt...if that works try this
'shntool len *.wav' == translation "give me a shntool listing of all wav files in the current directory"

if that shows errors run
'shntool fix *.wav'

do it once and you will see its not some scary "language", but an invaluable tool

boogie
:o

or you can set it up with batch files and NEVER have to type any commands.  all I hav eot do id right click > shn/flac length > fix and a few others are there and work great.  Joe W can point you towards the batch files.  Bean I had a REAL hard time getting shntool to work.  all the "in your path" shit got me confused as hell.  hit me up if you need a few pointers.

and soundforge loaded up with waves mastering bundle is the way to go for editing/mastering.

waves is very cool.  I use the ultra-maximizers for my multi-track recording, and have run it on a few tapes, but I try to stay away from it on the tapes, but it does make things sound really, really good.

great peice of software.

Tickets are dead to me.  Except the ones I have, don't have, and lost.  Not to mention the ones you have, don't have, and lost.   And the ones that other dude has, doesn't have, and lost.  Let me know if you need some tickets, I'm happy to oblige.

Even as someone familiar with command line, I wish SHNtool's internal help function told me what the cryptic output of the "problems" column was. I always end up looking up the damn thing online.
Out of the game … for now?

bean = the answer to your question is no, you shouldn't have any problems doing that - although you don't necessarily need to do a garbage first track.... its impossible to not *start* on a sector boundry.
Governor Jim McGreevey was equally disturbed about the upcoming population increase. "New Jersey cannot support all of these wookies," he said. "For starters, we don't have nearly enough kindbud. At best, we can muster up a Q.P. of some beasties, but we've not a dime-bag more."

all I do is make a very short track at the end and not save it.  then check it with shntool and have never had a problem.
