So there I am, first time through a pat down, waiting line picking the right guard to go through, my wife freaks, says there frisking people don’t do it! Please don’t. I’m going for it, TS says they never check the crotch. Well I’m not going through line with you, I’ll see you in there. Found a sweet young lass gave her a wink and sailed on in. Yahoo!! Straight to the bathroom get set up and start rolling, up to the seats, check the levels a few times all’s great. Now the shows pushing Three hours I go to track advance at about 2:45 and the player is powered down, I had the buttons locked so I don’t think I could have inadvertently pushed that many buttons in a short time to turn the button lock off and power down. It was in a fanny pack with a ps2, ad20, battery pack. It was warm, do they shut down from over heating? That’s the only thing I can come up with. When I got home I saw that it shut down at 2:25 and change. Any ideas? Damn what a let down! >:( ???

I've heard of them overheating and shutting down, but if you only had one battery in there, that's more or less the runtime. People usually get a little bit more out of a battery but nothing's perfect. So, did you have one battery or two? If you had one, did you check the remaining battery life?

Have two batteries, plenty of charge left. It was pretty warm in the bag, I've used the pack alot just never secured to my body, usually laying on a table with the mics sticking out of it, never had a problem.

Toss an ice pack in there next time ;)

I've had mine shut down when covered (in a coat pocket). It was quite warm, and from what I've gathered, I"m guessing it was the heat. Luckily it did save before shutting down so I didn't lose everything!

Happened to me four times (out of 30+ stealth recordings), but I usually get bumped at the same time so I'm not sure what causes it.
Recently I've made sure it isnt buried in my jacket pocket for the whole gig (take it out and let it cool down a bit), and its been fine since then.

Could it be the optical cable connection? I wonder if it shuts down due to a spdif transmission interruption of some sort. Just a thought although not yet proven.

I wonder if the leatherette case acts as a heat jacket?? I always have this on.

couldnt hurt to keep it off, ya know!!!
ive had mine closed up in my bookbag while recording plenty of times, but w. a v3, that prolly doesnt get that hot, however, w/ a mme, BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!! ;D

Might be good to add it to the jb3 info page, Just for basic knowledge. I only missed a few songs, but what a rush, waiting in line, heart pounding, second guessing it all, then the excitement of the victory lap to the mens room to set up! I love stealthing!
