another newbie question...
« on: December 19, 2003, 09:48:13 PM »
ok I've decided to go

mics>
UA-5(no mod)>
JB3

as you notice the mics are still open...I'm looking at these three mics right now

Oktava MK-012  150pair
Rode NT-5   200pair
SC-1   200pair
ADK SC-T   350pair

What would be best to get for a starting rig?
I've heard some MK-012 sourced shows and really dug em but I've been told that the SC-T's sound really nice too.

also, how would I power the JB3 and UA-5???
I saw something about building battery packs for em with parts from Radio Shack...how hard would that be to do, and how much would it cost?
ADK SC-T>Wmod UA5>JB3>SVU-1

Peavey Cirrus 6 Redwood>Traynor YBA200>Schroeder 1210

You'll need a digi-modded UA-5 if you're planning to use it without a laptop.
Out of the game … for now?

digi mod makes it stand alone. Otherwise you would need to hook it to a computer to work.

you can do the digimod by yourself :-)  there should be a link in the archives for it

I think Stearnskid can help with that  ;)

The dig mod is easy to do yourself. Just don't do like some people and fuck it up and then try to send it to Doug and blame him for the fuck up. That sounds like a very realistic rig to start with. Although I don't really care for any of those particular mics, I'd have to say go with the Oktava's just based on price and versatility. Although a pair of superlux might do ya just as well and they include shock mounts and all too. Just something else in your price range to check out.
Why is there no boxing in the special olympics?
