Anybody willing to do some remastering?
« on: April 29, 2012, 07:48:16 PM »
I have limited knowledge in remastering with Sound Forge and I want to make sure these are done right.  All of these shows have minor issues which I think an experienced pro can fix easily.  They more or less just need to be polished off.

Lenny Kravitz 10/21/09 Boston, MA   OKMIIr>A3>D100
Sarah McLachlan 01/11/10 Boston, MA   OKMIIr>A3>D100
U2 09/20/09 Foxboro, MA   OKMIIr>A3>D100
U2 09/21/09 Foxboro, MA   OKMIIr>A3>D100
U2 07/09/11 Montreal, Canada   OKMIIr>M10
Stone Temple Pilots 08/02/11 Hampton Beach, NH   OKMIIr>M10

Thanks in advance.

what equipment did you use to make them? What do you think is wrong with them?
"This is a common practice we have on the bus; debating facts that we could easily find through printed material. It's like, how far is it today? I think it's four hours, and someone else comes in at 11 hours, and well, then we'll... just... talk about it..." - Jeb Puryear

Sorry, I should have included that info in the original post.  I have edited the original post to include rig info.  Most of the shows need some crowd noise removal and maybe some bass reduction.  Shows done with the D100 have a few spots of digi noise towards the end of the show that needs to be fixed.

If anyone amongst us were good at "crowd noise removal" they would be immediately promoted to "Taping God" status.  If there is a problem with general background chatter, there probably isn't anything that is going to work well in post.  If it's a problem where the applause at the end of the song is louder than the music, or one particular guy whistles loudly a few times, frequently that can be smoothed out a bit locally so it's not so shocking to listen to.

My wife is a Sarah McLachlan fan.  If you have the DAT transferred as wav files, I'll give that one a shot.  Send me a PM with your preferred method for transfer... sendspace, my FTP server, etc.

As noted above, crowd noise reduction is the thing of dreams.  Bass reduction is pretty easy, and digi-noise from occasional clips can also be eliminated without much problem.

I'd be happy to take a crack at your STP if it's in WAV or FLAC as well. I have no space to send it to but anyone can DHT a bit torrent.. let me know.

You need it tracked and FLAC'd as well or just adjusted?
