you can probably download the software, or have someone burn you a CD

well check that website, i believe you can get all of the software you will need.  you only need to get updated firmware and the program that let's your computer read and transfer what is on the jb3.

Look into Notmad Explorer, you'll need the drivers off of Creative's site to make it run.  It's a great prog and it costs $25.  ALOT better than the prog that comes w/ the JB3.

I would B&P a disc also. Burn you a copy.

I would make you a copy of the acutal Creative Labs software that comes with a new JB3. The Notmad explorer would be something that you have to get seperatly. If you are interested just drop me a PM.

i personally removed all the creative crap-ass software that came with the jb3 after i got notmad xplorer.
creative's software will not let you do a lot of things, including renaming your recordings.

The drivers and firmware can be had from creative's support site for free. Skip the software and get Notmad
http://www.redchairsoftware.com/notmad/

It is a great program, and unlike creative's shlock is problem free.

I've always been able to rename files using the Creative software...just double click at the beginning of the file name (exactly like you do in Windows) and the text will become highlighted.
Right now nothing...in the past: Schoeps CMC6, AKG 480, AKG 460, AKG 414, MBHO 603a, Neumann KM100, ADK TL>Schoeps MK4, Schoeps MK2, Schoeps MK41, AKG ck61, AKG ck62, AKG ck63, Neumann AK40, Neumann AK50, MBHO ka200>Lunatec V2, Lunatec V3, Apogee Mini-Me, Oade M148, Oade M248, Sound Devices MP2, Sonosax SXM2>Sony (mod)SBM1, Apogee AD500>D7, D8, D100, M1, R1, R4, R09, iRiver HP120, Microtrack

The downloads on the Creative site are all upgrades - you need the files from the original install disc if you want to use the free Creative software.  PM me if you'd like to grab the install by ftp.

I'll just add that if you are having trouble updating the firmware using the firewire then use the USB port instead.

I couldn't update using the firewire but it easily upgraded with the USB wire.

just a heads up.

I'm gonna chime in in favor of Notmad. I love it. Not only is it better than Creative's software out-of-the-box, but it's still under development and regularly being updated.

One of the few pieces of software i've actually paid for.
