Newbie time!

Is the MZ-MF520D something you can get a decent recording with using a good mic? I've heard it's pretty much all about the mic. as far as quality goes?

Thanks!

Nevermind, sorry, wrong model number...doesn't even have a mic input!

What do you guys reccomend as far as a good MD recorder?

I've made quite a few recordings with the Sony MZ-NF810 with mics and also via sbd patches.  I wish it had a backlight on the menu though (don't know of any that do).  It does allow for on-the-fly level settings.  I never tried any other models/brands, so can't speak to any others.
Always looking for old and new recordings of:
Fruit Bats
Dolly Varden
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin
Sloan
Scott Miller [and the Commonwealth]

If you can afford it, I'd skip the MD and get a jb3 instead.
