Well, it appears to be dithering...  I think.  Still don't know where those settings are.

I do find tracking more tedious than CD Wave, but I think it is because it is new to me.  It is just scrolling along so I can't just put the track marker in place on the fly.  CD Wave only moves the image when the cursor gets to the end of the window. With Wavelab, I have to stop, move the window back to where I want to place the marker and insert it and start the playback again.  But, I must be missing something?

But, once I sort that part out, it will be easier, esp. to do both the 24 bit and 16 bit versions.

Okay, figured out how to stop the scrolling (Options, Scrolling during playback).  Now just to figure out how to move it back on the fly to repeat and find the track beginning.

I still track in cdwave.  edit (fades etc) in wavelab > track 24bit in cd wave.  then do the batch process in wavelab.  if you don't set up the dither in izotope then you are only using the "stock" dither in wavelab or it's using izotope but also adding all sorts of other things.  here's what you want to do


when you add izotope to your batch process click on it to open it.

you should see a screen like this



if loudness maximizer isn't selected select it.

look to where it says "factory default settings".   you then need to uncheck all those little x's except for dither.

so it looks like this



then you can save that preset as "dither" so next time you don't have to uncheck all the boxes.

then hit ok.  you should now see these settings.



hit ok and run the batch.  you have to open it to that screen every time.

thank you, Gordon.  On the last screen, how to I get the dither to default to MBIT+?  It seems I have to select it each time.

honestly it's been a while since I set it up so I don't remember exactly.  did you save the dither preset? maybe go to last used up in the presets and then save the dither preset?

1. edits (fades, amplify, etc.) in Wavelab on the master file
2. Save 24 bit wave
3. Resample/Dither to 16/44.1 and save 16 bit wave
4. Track 24 bit in CD Wave, save individual 24 bit tracks, save cue sheet
5. Load 16/44.1 file in CD Wave and load cue sheet, save individual 16 bit tracks

doing the batch process I only use cd wave once   with the 24bit.  then batch so the 16bits are tracked the same (your way with cue sheet would do the same)

I end up with more files than necessary   I have no need to have a single 16bit file.  batch process skips that whole step.

I agree, Gordon.  With the Wavelab batch process, I don't see a need to have a 16 bit single file of the entire show.  So, I think the process should be:

2. Save 24 bit wave
3. Track 24 bit in CD Wave, save individual 24 bit tracks
4. Using Wavelab batch process, Resample/Dither 24 bit tracks to get individual 16 bit tracks

No, but I see the confusion.  For one thing, I almost never track both 24 and 16 bit.  I usually save the 24 bit untracked for archival purposes and track the 16 bit for practical use.  Too, I often track in Wavelab.  You can lay track marks, do whatever you want to the file including resample and dither, and then split the file --or if you have 16 and 24 bit versions, files, into tracks at the end.
