Title: Alesis IO2 Anyone??
Post by: PianoManGrj on July 15, 2010, 02:51:40 PM
Has anyone used this or the Express?  I mainly want a line in for my laptop.  Not sure how much I'm going to use it so I'm debating on spending 100+ for it.
Thanks

I tested an IO|2 a year or two ago--good preamps and a well-constructed overall package. The only reason I didn't use it was that my laptop is old and slow and only supports USB 1.0; a few minutes into anything I tried to record, there were periodic interruptions in the recording. I've had this problem with other USB recording devices and the same laptop. But the interface itself seemed like a fine thing.

--best regards

Cool, thank you.  Anyone else  have any comments or suggestions for another device?

E-MU 0202 is in the same price range. Different form factor mainly, specs are probably similar.

Or if you want to spend a bit more, Fast Track Pro goes for $160. Can be used as a standalone pre too.
