722>SD dvd ram drive question
« on: August 02, 2007, 02:40:54 PM »
Can you burn dvd/cdr in the field with this thing? It looks like you can format and track out on the 722 then burn, true? Thanks, Marc.

i dont think so. you can burn a DVD Ram copy to disc tho. but as far as tracking/cueing on the unit, thats news to me. and also, if using the DVDRam drive or a FW enclosure and plan on using the 722's bus power, you have toi get that FW filter to remove any noise that may be introduced between the FW enclosure/dvd ram and the 722

thanks Bean.

no problem Marc. thinking of joining the best team ??? ;D you wont be sorry. i think youd even like just the dpa>722 by itself. gewwang has done many fine recordings that way :)

Here is the link for that FW Filter too. you need it ONLY if you are using the 722's bus-power :) If you have a FW enclosure that has its own power supply, then obviously, its not needed.

Personally, I think Id rather shell out the 80 bucks for this, because its one less battery to worry about. Im sure it DRAINS the hell out of your 722 batteries, but who cares? id rather deal with one battery than two, especially at larger festies :) Its easier to buy more 722 batts than it is to monitor a second one in the field :) And like fozzy said, there is NO TRANSFERRING once your data is written to an EXHDD. just unplug from the 722, and plug/play on your PC/Mac. no transferring needed. just edit straight from the EXHDD, and start adding gain/resampling/dithering!

Marc, if you have anymore 7xx questions, please feel free to PM/Email me, or you can just post it on ts.com. just putting it out there. I seem to know alot about these damn things :)
