Excellent thread Chuck!!

Here is a solution that i made for the JK Labs AKG actives, it would work for any 21mm active mic.

Nice work Chuck!

I have not seen this thread until now. I like these small size clips.

Where can I find them? The ones from Audix are bigger/too big.

Roger

That's my set up and the clips are sennhizer clips for the k3u/me line, 19mm.  I have searched everywhere for another pair, including Sennhiezer, with no luck.

I like Ted's homemade solution best so far. I'm going to try some nylon all-thread when I build mine. The Audix clips are the smallest ones I can find that are readily available. I'd love to find something smaller.

Chuck,

What mm diameter are those for?

19mm - 23mm per the Audix web site for the D-Clips.

Will this not work? It supposed to fit the micro series of mics and I looked at the spec sheets for some of those and they are 12mm in diameter. Would this clip fit on the lemo connector? Or are you looking for something to hold the cap and not the connector?

That *may* work for griping the mini-XLR connector on the back of a capsule. I looked at that one too. For my application I'd rather grip the capsule itself.

The Audix MC2 seems to be slightly smaller than the D-Clip.

I checked the specs out on that clip ^^^and the mics it brings up that will work with that clip range in the 20mm range. The mic in the spec sheet is at 19.5mm but that's the small end at the bottom. So it looks like you would need to add a couple mm's to the diameter. Looks like a good clip.

What about the Schoeps SGC clips? those fit the lemo connector probably too huh?

Not the AKG ones, the SGC's are to small.  I have heard of folks cutting them down and making them fit.

Here is a solution for the AKG ck_x actives.  The capsule line has two different styles, a barrel style and a cone style.  I used 3/4" 90 degree elbows for the cone style and 1/2" 90 degree elbows for the barrel style.  Drilled holes in the back to insert the active cable before attaching the capsule.  Pictured is a DIN & DINa mount.  The elbows are secured with a small screw so you can take off the shock mount and it also insures proper realignment.  I line the inside of the elbows with the soft side of velcro tape for a nonabrasive snug fit  ;D

i use the SGC plastic clips - i filed/sanded down the very tops of the clip to fit better - the size works but its normally a bitch getting the lemo clips in there - filing it down helped but still  not 100% ideal mount

Very nice explanation and pics Ted. As you know, I'm doing research on what I'll need... ;D I'll just have to wait till everything arrives to see what I'm working with.

I like the idea of "set" t-bars like your DIN and DINa bars but I would want to have some ability to point the mics into the direction I need them. I find myself in situations where I can't get a "real" DIN or DINa which is what I used to use most of the time.

Great thread Chuck! I see you are also doing some research since there is some excitement in the AKG actives project thread... ;D

i wonder what kind of min order NOLAH2o needs for his bars

i bet there are enough mk46 users to get a small order in if the price was right for other options as well
