Topic: DPA 4060's or 6060's?

I gather that both feature the new Core technology.
Are there any differences between the two series?

If you were buying one pair of mics to mostly stealth indoors, all the way from acoustic jazz to metal, which would you pick and why?

Is there such a thing as too small?

4060s are cheaper, have better specs, and are plenty small for any application

Because of that, 6060 is advantageous only if the application requires a microphone smaller than a 4060.

As I recall based on specs alone, 4060 noise floor is slightly lower, yet in the real world situations that is unlikely to make a difference outside of very quiet studio-like recording conditions.

^ Yes, yet with a sacrifice of 3dB higher self noise (and 3dB lower S/N and dynamic range), traded for the for 10dB higher Max SPL.  With regards to the legacy versions, published distortion specs for 4060 and 4061 are identical.

Not saying that matters, only that if it will matter or not depends.  The primary difference as far as most tapers are concerned will be sensitivity and output level.



I just checked the published specs online.  The specifications of the new 6060 (which incorporates CORE) are equivalent the legacy 4060.  The new CORE 4060 exceeds those of the CORE 6060.  So going to 6060 is essentially like using the older legacy 4060, except in a smaller microphone, with the corresponding higher cost.
