They're featuring this device on their website like you can call and order it. I just requested a price quote so will wait for email response. My apologies if its been posted here before.

This unit is not expected for release until late summer or early fall. How anyone has prices is beyond me!

Indeed,
Retailers aren't gonna have any pricing info until SD gets further along in production. Plucks do you and/or Marc have any info from SD on any target for release yet?
-
i think where it says call or email for price is just the default way his site is set up. in the description it notes it will be available later this year and that features may change. can't wait though.

i dont mean to be rude to sd on this one but why isnt this 24/192 capable? it seems that if it was hardwired internally it should be able to handle that as well

FWIW, I never got a price quote reply on this! :-X
-
unless it can do up to 24/192, I don't want it.
-
for sure you guys have to post the quote, I might have to get down if it's 24/192. Can we burn SACDs yet?
-
Schwilly,
SACD doesn't use 24bit/192khz it uses 1-bit/2.82mhz, also called direct stream digital since it's not related to PCM at all (it doesn't decimate).
DVD-Audio is the only consumer format currently 24/192 capable, but the software required to burn a DVD-Audio disc (without gaps between the tracks) is very expensive 2k+
Soon though we will be there.
peace, chris

hmm, thanx for edumacating me, i just regurgitate what I hear
I also hear that dvd-audio is a type of compression...*shrugs*
-
the only compressed audio is the dolby digital or DTS tracks, the PCM tracks are uncompressed, you have the choice which ones to listen to.
