Title: Build A Right Angle Power Cable
Post by: NOLAfishwater on October 02, 2007, 04:44:30 PM
I was not happy with my factory power cable due to it being straight. So I went to radio shack and used their power cable key to determine the size of the plug. Make sure you bring your old cable, the unit you want to power, and your battery pack. I would have bought their set but they only had it in tan, and I wanted black.  Make sure you write down the size. It should look like this: 4mm O.D. x 1.7mm I.D. . I then found the parts I needed online (links below). It turns out that they had the connectors w/ 6 ft lenghts of cable. So I got the the right size power adapter, cut them down to the right length, and heat shrinkwrapped them with out having to solder once.  ;D

Here is the store I used:

Here is one of their catalog pages with some different sizes:

These guys also have connectors that you have to solder in all different sizes, but you have to call them about your particular connector. Their online catalog is not very detailed.

Good luck!

If you have had luck ordering from a different site, please post. Thanks.
