Just moved my Dynaudio Focus 260s into this room, which is new to me. The room is wider than it is deep. Per the photo, I have the speakers in the corner, toed in, to get maximum reflections from the corners. However, there's still an evident "hole" in the center, bass-wise especially (i.e., there is less bass in the middle than if you stand closer to either wall).
First question, maybe dumb - if the speakers sat in these indentations, would that be better? I will try it anyway, but in theory/most people's practice is that even a good idea?
Second, I tried pulling them further out from the wall, plugging the ports (specifically recommended in at least one prominent review of this speaker) and that to me was worse.... just less bass. Again, will try anyway, but if I pull them closer together, I'm worried it will mess up the bass reflections as they won't resonate as much from the corners.
The obvious answer is "trust your ears" but it's such a strange room, and I haven't really decided, nor am I much of an expert in speaker placement. So opinions appreciated.
