Matched Capsules?

How close do caps/mics need to be to be considered "Matched"?  (1db or less?)

It's also important to have a matched frequency response, not just close sensitivity.

So how do you test that?  Sesitivity is easy to check.

Sennheiser MKH 8000 series - and I think Schoeps and DPA as well are matched to within 1dB.

The MKH 8000 are within 1dB on both frequency response and sensitivity.

So how do you test that?  Sesitivity is easy to check.

The traditional method was to hold the frequency responce plots up to the light, one on top of the other, and choose the two that were the same.

Probably do the same thing by computer now, after the plots have been made.
